“Tu Oportunidad” will soon be premiering on “Televisión Española”. This new show, presented by Juanjo Pardo, seeks business projects capable of converting brilliant ideas that require financing into successful businesses.
The candidates can only achieve this by convincing a panel of five investors in a short three-minute pitch. The panel will invest their own money if they think the idea is worthy of investment and if the candidates demonstrate the value of their ideas. ‘Tu Oportunidad’ will be aired on TVE. It is an educational and public service programme that gives entrepreneurs an opportunity while promoting the creation of businesses. Over fifty candidates, five investors (the shrewdest and most innovative professionals from different business sectors) and eight episodes aim to find the best projects. Co-produced by Pulso (Secuoya group), ‘Tu Oportunidad’ is the adaptation of the ‘Dragons’ Den’ format originally created by Nippon TV and distributed internationally by Sony Pictures Television. The format has been produced locally with success in over twenty countries (Japan, the US, the UK, Canada, Finland, Ireland, etc.). Juanjo Pardo (presenter of “Para todos La 2”) will present “Tu Oportunidad” and will bring together investors and entrepreneurs in a unique industry-themed set.
Entrepreneurs and investors, face to face
After extensive casting, over fifty entrepreneurs will feature in the programme and “Tu Oportunidad” will offer them the opportunity to present their project, idea or product to the five investors to convince them (individually or jointly) to finance their business proposal. The panelists appear on the programme in search of talent and as individual investors. The candidates will be inventors or promoters of products or new and occasionally unique services. What they require is financial backing, which they can achieve thanks to the investors, who are looking for the viable projects. The candidates will only have one opportunity to ‘persuade them’ to invest and if they achieve this, the investors will put forward their own money. This is a tough test and they must be clear, sincere and above all, convincing because they will only have three minutes to present their idea. Each case will be unique and each participant must persuade the investors to invest the money required, whether it be through the collaboration of just one, several or all team members. The five investors are the paradigm of business success that best reflects the values of the entrepreneurial spirit. The team includes María Eugenia Girón, a leader in luxury products who has successfully managed well-renowned brands, Javier Pérez Dolset, Founder and CEO of Zed and Co-founder of U-tad, Pyro Studios and Ilion Animation Studios, the founder of Vitalia Day Centres, the creator of the Hoffmann Method and winner of the Prince of Girona 2013 award, Catalina Hoffmann, Gonzalo de la Cierva, one of the most versatile entrepreneurs in the audiovisual sector (Movilisto, Result, Icon Medialab, etc.) and Pablo Gimeno Sánchez, a current investor in over a dozen companies and manager of various Private Investment Fund portfolios.
TVE supporting entrepreneurs
With this new format, TVE is promoting an entrepreneurial culture, as well as presenting the channels and mechanisms for accessing business finance and contributing to employment and self-employment. The program combines entertainment with education and public service in a dynamic format that is attractive for the audience. The programme is sponsored by the Business Competitiveness Council, an organisation that brings together the 15 largest Spanish companies along with the Family Business Institute, with the objective of developing proposals to improve the competitiveness of the Spanish economy.
