corazones de papel fundación secuoya
27 March, 2020

"Corazones de papel", an initiative of the Secuoya Foundation, will bring letters of encouragement, podcast and drawings to those who have been hospitalized due to coronavirus in hospitals of Madrid, Andalusia and Murcia.

Secuoya Foundation, will use all the resources at its disposal to help people infected by the Coronavirus to fight loneliness and alleviate the isolation that comes from being hospitalized due to this very contagious disease. This is how “Corazones de Papel” (Paper Hearts) was born, an initiative that intends to bring to hospitalized patients letters, drawings and even podcast with messages of encouragement and individualized energy. These messages will be sent by citizens who want to take part in this solidarity project.

At first, the initiative will be developed in the public hospitals network in Madrid, Murcia and all Andalusia to where these letters will be sent physically or in digital format according to each hospitals decision. “Corazones de papel” will also reach Ifema’s field hospital, which has a capacity of up to 5,500 patients, and it has become the largest hospital in Spain. “Behind the chilling number of positive cases, hospitalizations and deaths there are  also individual cases of people who, in addition to suffering from the disease, they have to also fight the loneliness imposed on them by confinement in their hospital admissions. All my life I have been passionate to tell stories… but now is the time to help the real protagonists”, in addition of  the illness they are suffering from loneliness. I have always been passionate about telling stories,… but now it is time to help the real protagonists,” explains Raúl Berdonés, president of the Secuoya Foundation. “If this pandemic has shown us anything, it is the human quality of each citizen and the strength of solidarity. From Secuoya’s Foundation we want to send a message to the citizens: Join us: is about everyone… it is not only our project, it is a responsibility of all citizens”, he comments.

From today, “Paper Hearts” is available to any citizen who wants to send a message of support to the thousands of people who are hospitalized. Each submission will be inspected to ensure that it meets the requirements of this campaign.

Through the www.corazonesdepapel.org website, the user will be able to write their letter and for the the youngest ones, they can attach a drawing and thus contribute to the recovery of the patients’ spirits. The messages, with a length of up to 1,500 characters, must be written with the intention of supporting and encouraging the patients who are hospitalized. All the letters that meet these requirements will be given individually to the patients and a daily selection of them will be posted on the website and broadcaster.
“Paper Hearts” will also have an echo in the RRSS, a tool that with this pandemic has taken on a relevance unknown until now. Thus, and through social networks such as Twitter and Instagram, has the support of very recognized and well-known characters and influencers. Antonio Resines, Mabel Lozano, Álex de la Iglesia, Carlos Sobera, Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, Elena Furiase and Amaya Valdemoro, among others, have already joined the project and supported it with their videos.
