The consortium led by Grupo Secuoya is a finalist in the European Union bid for technical assistance for the implementation of DTT in Colombia
It comes under the framework of EU development aid policy (Europeaid), as aid allocated by the EU to non-EU countries. In this case, the bid is limited to eight competing companies, only three of which have managed to make the shortlist. One of these is Grupo Secuoya. A consortium, the fourth, has just recently been incorporated after appealing their elimination.
Therefore, the Grupo Secuoya consortium, led by Secuoya Audiovisual Services (which also includes Magic Box, CPM and Evoluxer) is competing against three other competitors: AXION, BAA CONSULTORS (which includes the Catalan Corporation of Mitjans Audiovisuals in its consortium) and Idom Ingeniería (which includes Euskal Telebista).
The contract for Technical Assistance for the implementation of DTT in Colombia lasts for 18 months as of the approval and designation, which must be announced before the end of the year. The contract is for four million euros and includes technical assistance, training sessions and communication campaigns to raise awareness on the transition from analogue to digital. This specialised assistance contract includes a DTT content focused development area and a new content platform for digital distribution (HbbTV, web, mobile, etc.), as well as a major communication and public awareness campaign aimed at Colombian society with the objective of facilitating the move from analogue to digital TV. It is worth noting that Grupo Secuoya has valuable experience in these fields and that through their equipment and the experts included in the proposal, the Colombian Government could benefit from such support and services.
For Grupo Secuoya, now finalists in a very competitive bid, it is an ambitious project because of the strategic importance of Colombia. Given Grupo Secuoya’s presence in Colombia since over a year and a half, the country is of considerable geostrategic importance and has great potential for the future. This competition involves a strategic opportunity for Secuoya and will serve as leverage for their business in this territory. The winner will have a decisive role in the transition to digital TV in Colombia and will work at the highest level with the leaders of the National Television Authority, the Ministry of Communication Technologies and Communications, as well as with major players in the Colombian TV market.
