From Madrid to Linares: new episodes and plots
Filming for the eight new episodes will take place during the course of the summer in different locations in Madrid and Guadalajara, supported by a technical team containing the best professionals in the field. The second season of ‘Victor Ros’ relies on the executive production of Emilio A. Pina and Amparo Miralles; the direction of Daniel Calparsoro (‘A Hundred Years of Forgiveness’ ‘Leap of Faith’) and Iñaki Peñafiel (‘The Sonata of Silence’ ‘Laura’s Mysteries’); Agustín Martínez (‘Acacias 38’), script coordinators; Luis Vallés (‘Koldo’), (‘The Case’), Art Director; Juan Molina Temboury, Director of Photography; Bubi Escobar (‘The Time Minister’), wardrobe;Pepe Quetglas (‘Pan’s Labyrinth’ ‘The Case’), make-up; and Manu Herrerra, responsible for digital effects.
New characters
The second season brings in new characters who help – or not – the inspector of the Metropolitan Brigade to solve the greatest robbery ever to have been committed in Spain. Thus, the upcoming episodes include Paco Tous in the role of Giralda, a sergeant of the Civil Guard whose methods are the opposite of the avant-garde criminal investigation led by Ros; Edu Soto, as the hawker and inventor León Cavestany; and Carolina Bang as Madame de Suberwick, a very forward thinking French journalist and an Andalusian expert. The past continues to haunt Victor Ros, in this instance in the form of a woman, Paula Prendes who will play an important role in his present. Clara Alvear (Esmeralda Moya), appears in the first episode in an event that will shape this new season. Furthermore, Lola La Valenciana (Megan Montaner) will appear once again converted into a woman of importance after her marriage with a prestigious character.
Clues to the second season
The robbery of the gold reserves of the Bank of Spain require the Metropolitan Brigade to transfer the focus of their investigation from Madrid, where the first episode is based, to the then prosperous and progressive city of Linares, which at the end of the 19th century enjoyed its most glorious age, with a vibrant modernist upper class, a number of wealthy bankers and embassies from countries such as France, Germany, Great Britain and Belgium. During the investigations to recover the treasures stolen from the Bank of Spain, Victor Ros will have to confront the dangerous group of bandoliers of ‘El Estepeño’ in Sierra Morena, and the dark and powerful criminal organisation ‘La Mano Negra’. In the second season, the adverse circumstances and his misfortune in personal relationships will shape, once more in this second season, the complex personality of Victor Ros, a man for whom justice and the law do not always have to be compatible.
