After 29 years of drawing up a list of the most influential company lawyers from different regions around the world, the group The Legal 500 have drawn up the first directory GC Powerlist Iberia, a guide that identifies the best in-house company lawyers. The General Secretary and Legal Director of Grupo Secuoya, Carlos López.
It should be noted that in the prestigious ranking, only two of the distinguished professionals represented the Media, Natalia Martos, lawyer for PRISA Noticias, and our own Carlos López, who have been renowned by this international entity.
The list, which identifies the best company legal directors, prominent for their capacity and innovation in their work in the Spanish and Portuguese markets, is drawn up in a meticulous manner with great demands. In fact, after analysing and investigating their backgrounds, the process starts with initial research in which 1,200 in-house lawyers from Spain and Portugal are nominated. Subsequently, this is reduced to a definitive list from the GCPowerlist Iberia directory, in this case 90 lawyers, whose work had a huge impact on innovating the Spanish and Portuguese markets, under the criteria of excellence and quality.
In the words of Carlos López, “This is an acknowledgement of work achieved, not only by me, but by the whole team at a particular economic time/moment in which it is required to step ahead and work day-by-day in an effort to be part of the recovery of the field and of the economy”.
A graduate of Law, Master of Business and Law in Telecommunications, Internet and Audiovisuals from the Institute of Stock Market Studies (IEB- Cremades and Calvo Sotelo), Master of Criminology from the University Complutense in Madrid, and member of the Illustrious College of Lawyers of Madrid, Carlos López is a benchmark figure within the audiovisual market.
A lawyer specialised in audiovisual law, his development began in Grupo Antena 3,in the areas of recruitment and corporate law practice among others. After joining Grupo Secuoya in 2010, he currently performs the roles of General Secretary of the Group where the legal consultancy management and Human Resources and Systems departments are based. In this position, Carlos López has led internally diverse operations from the incorporation of Grupo Secuoya in the Alternative Stock Marcket (Mercado Alternativo Bursátil), to entering the capital risk market N+1, among other corporate operations. Likewise, with the corresponding teams he has been responsible for the legal necessities of the international expansion of the Group, such as the recent launching of the Murcian regional television channel (La 7 Tv Región de Murcia) or the national channel TDT, “Ten”. Alongside Carlos López, there have been distinguished legal directors such as Julián Martínez-Simancas (Iberdrola), Pablo Echenique (Abengoa), Ramiro Sánchez de Lerín (Telefónica), Juan Charro y Javier Illescas (Santander), José Luís del Valle (Grupo ACS), Flor Grinberg (Google), Juan Saavedra (Inditex) y Marina Paradela (CEPSA).
